Is Sally Singer Leaving Vogue For T?
Ever since Stefano Tonchi decamped to W, there have been plenty of rumors about who would replace him as editor in chief of T: The New York Times Style magazine. Then Lynn Hirschberg — editor at large and all around T mag masthead heavyweight — announced her departure last week, and left tongues wagging that the new EIC would be coming from outside of the Times.
Today, WWD reports that the name on everybody’s lips is Sally Singer, news and features editor at Vogue and the reason anybody under the age of 50 still reads the magazine.
While Singer herself kept mum, a Vogue spokesperson played it coy, telling WWD‘s Nick Axelrod, “We are very pleased that Sally is here at Vogue, and we understand that she feels pleased to be here.” And a rep for the Grey Lady kept it equally cryptic, offering, “We have not named an editor. We’ll announce when we have one.”
