PHOTOS: Samantha Cameron Shows Us How To Wear Black
British First Lady Samantha Cameron wore all-black clothes by an assortment of British designers this morning when she officially opened London Fashion Week. Aside from Dita Von Teese, Cameron’s outfit might just be the best example of head-to-toe black we’ve seen in a long, long time.
Cameron, who is an ambassador for the British Fashion Council, stepped up to the lectern in a dress by Mulberry, a notch lapel blazer by Sykes and suede pumps by LK Bennett, and told the British press (and the world) that fashion is “one of the most important industries” in Britain. Cameron seems to have learned a lesson about creating a national wardrobe from Michelle Obama, who caused controversy in America she wore a dress from British house Alexander McQueen to a state dinner last month.
Cameron will host a dinner for some of the fashion industry’s major players at the prime minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street tonight. Anna Wintour and Emmanuelle Alt, the new editor of Vogue Paris, are expected to attend. But all eyes will be on what Cameron will wear at the dinner. And while she could get any dress in the world, we’re guessing she’ll pick something made in Britain.
