Sarah Burton Wants To Design Kate Middleton’s Maternity Wear

In the ten days since Kate Middleton confirmed her pregnancy, the fashion media has pretty much been in a state of non-stop hyperventilation at the thought of her maternity wardrobe.

When will she start showing? Will she have to ditch the L.K. Bennett pumps? Will Alexander McQueen make her custom maternity clothes?

Well, it looks like we have the answer to at least one of those questions. McQueen creative director Sarah Burton was honored with an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in London today for her services to the British fashion industry, most notably in creating the Duchess’ wedding gown, and told reporters that she would like to get to work outfitting Kate (and the royal bump!) in the months to come.

The Telegraph reports that when Burton was questioned on whether she’ll designing for the Duchess during her pregnancy, she laughed and said: “I hope I will be.”

The piece also notes that Burton herself is pregnant with twins due in February, so it looks like it’s McQueen maternity all around! Can you even handle the excitement?
