PHOTOS: Selena Gomez Talks Singledom In Harper’s Bazaar
We’re not going to lie to you: we’re counting down the days until Spring Breakers comes out in theaters (it’s 9, in case you’re wondering, or sixteen for those of you outside NYC and LA). Clearly, Harper’s Bazaar is banking on others being just as excited, since Selena Gomez, one of the film’s four bikini-clad stars, has just been revealed as their April cover girl.
But while the Harmony Korine-directed flick is all lurid neons, seedy violence, and nitty gritty drama, Gomez is smiling and sophisticated in the Terry Richardson-lensed spread. The 20-year-old wears a striped, tomato-red blouse and shorts by Dolce & Gabbana on the peppy newsstand cover, but a glimpse of the subscriber’s cover and we’re glad we renewed. The one that’ll be landing in our mailbox (and maybe yours, too?) features a dreamy shot in which Gomez stands holding a giant, pale pink flower bloom of an umbrella, in a white Calvin Klein mini.
Inside the issue, the Disney alum talks about childhood Hooters trips, her awards show styling choices, and that ever-pressing issue of her on-again-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber:
“To me, love is normal. Of course, you see Jay and Beyoncé and you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh, they’re perfect for each other,’ but at the end of the day their love is just like everybody else’s love. They have problems, I’m sure, and they solve them, like anybody else. So to make it as normal as possible—in such an abnormal lifestyle—was super important to both of us. Which was great …That’s how it should be.”
She may be back on the market, but for now she offers the usual celebrity refrain, telling Bazaar she doesn’t get “asked out a lot,” and offering her not-so-glamorous attire as a possible explanation, adding that, “when I actually look presentable, I’m at an awards show. It’s not like I’ve wanted to go out and look for someone. I’m not really good at that.”
