PHOTOS: Sigourney Weaver Wore Her SAG Dress Backwards (UPDATED)

Sigourney Weaver landed on plenty of Worst Dressed Lists at this year’s SAG Awards, ours included. Between the black satin fabric, high neckline, and armpit ruffles, the Lanvin dress was a flop. But the sharp eyes over at Red Carpet Fashion Awards noticed that Weaver actually wore the dress backwards. Backwards! But does that change our mind about Weaver being one of the worst dressed stars that night? Eh, not really.

The front of the dress (when worn correctly, we mean) features a deep cross-over v-neck, with a faux waist-belt detail and an asymmetrical hem, and the back is a plain high neckline with no detailing. On the red carpet, it appears that Weaver wore the top part of the dress backwards, but kept the bottom half as is — perhaps she got Alber Elbaz to customize it?

At least Weaver is in good company – Amanda Seyfried and Angelina Jolie have done the same at previous fancy events. Seyfried wore a futuristic mini by Bodyamr backwards in 2010 to showcase the dress’ exposed gold zipper, and Jolie did the same to a blue Max Azria gown at the SAGs in 2009.

And for those who are into expensive frocks, the Lanvin dress is available at FarFetch for upwards of $3,000 in navy blue and red.

Update: Thanks to readers Joy Yoon and Chel for giving us the heads up on this red dress, which seems more in line with what Weaver wore to the SAGs, and not the v-neck gown that we previously referenced.     Miss Weaver looks healthy and fit which is more than I can say for this article and Ms. Wong’s poor journalism skills and utter lack of knowledge regarding fashion. Ms. Wong’s faux pas in referencing the wrong dress is more humiliating, I affirm, than Miss Weaver’s choice in gowns. The dress Miss Weaver is wearing may or may not be a work of art, but it fits her body shape and height well. Let’s see what Ms. Wong looks like at Miss Weaver’s age. Hell, let’s see Ms. Wong now.

    she probly wore it backwards cuz her boobies are sagging and won’t stand on their own with the revealing low cut front…so she improvised, personally, i didn’t like the dress anyway, it’d look ugly on anyone, not just her

    FIRST of all…did anyone notice that the shot of the back of the dress does NOT have the V cut as the dress in the model shot???? Is it REALLY backwards??? or did she have some alterations to her OWN dress….OMG….its her dress if she wants to wear it flipping backwards that’s her business….
