WATCH: Martin Short Schools KMid’s OBGYN On Proper Protocol On SNL

If you, like us, have ever wondered what it must be like to be a royal’s doctor in a less-than-dignified situation, the cast of SNL and host Martin Short have an answer for you.

In the funniest sketch we’ve seen in a while, Short, playing a liaison from the royal family, teaches the Duchess of Cambridge‘s OBGYN the proper protocol for dealing with the royal…well…you know (or as he calls it, “Her Downton Abbey”), as well as how to not overstep his bounds while delivering the heir. If you watch until the very end, you’ll even get to seen Her Majesty make a (rather unceremonious) appearance!

This was truly a hilarious sketch, and with Short there it really reminded me of the glory days of SNL. Even the usually stone faced Hader was busting up at Short’s achingly funny British character, and I was crying about half way through his list of names for the Royal “Ahem”. I was talking to a coworker at DISH who thought that it might have been a bit of a nod to Monty Python with the list of names and Armisen in drag. I am definitely going to save this episode on my DISH Hopper, and I am glad that I don’t have to worry about storage space since it can hold 2,000 hours of entertainment because I could see watching this one every year! I actually think that it would be a good idea to have a former cast member host every year before Christmas because this worked out so perfectly.
