PHOTOS: Michelle Obama Is Brilliant In Blue At State Of The Union Address

President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union address Tuesday night and if you’re interested in hearing what he had to say, we recommend checking out Mediaite’s LiveStream. Alternately, if you’re interested in finding out who designed Michelle Obama’s shiny, cobalt blue, boat necked dress, you’re in the right place.

Obama selected a twill, cap sleeved dress by Barbara Tfank, which she accessorized with a pin by Alexis Bittar. This isn’t the first time Obama has worn Tfank (or Bittar, for that matter); the First Lady selected a floral printed, sea foam green dress by the designer to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton across the pond in May.

For last year’s State of the Union, Obama wore a white, three-quarter sleeved dress by Rachel Roy, which she accessorized with bold silver bangles.

    Be honest. For a first lady, she looked sleazy with her gut sticking out in a shiny cocktail sort of dress.

    First of all, her husband was speaking and that was enough for a dress like that. Second, she has no gut, that’s the material. and third quit hating!!!

    Amazing. A fabulous dress made from gorgeous colored fabric. Is it silk or raw silk? The First Lady wears many dresses well but this was stunning. At first, I thought the bar of colored jewels was constructed in to the dress and thought I would have preferred a vintage, faux jewel pin but I now realize this was a pin. I think a jeweled pin with a slight swirl to its shape and worn more to the left shoulder might have appeared softer. Either way, Michelle Obama looked elegant and I would bet, even if she wasn’t the First Lady, many a head would have turned approvingly!
