WATCH: Stephanie Seymour Talks Beach Photos With Oprah

In case you missed our live-tweets of the supermodel reunion of sorts on today’s Oprah, Stephanie Seymour, Beverly Johnson, Christie Brinkley, Paulina Porizkova, and Cheryl Tiegs all stopped by the Harpo studios to look back at their life-long careers in front of the lens. But while Porizkova was, per usual, a boon of wonderful one-liners, we were most intrigued by Seymour’s response to those oh-so-close photos of her and her son Peter in St. Barth’s.

In her explanation to Oprah, Seymour alludes to a different set of photos that were taken of her shortly before these and right after she felt she’d “gained a lot of weight.” Seymour says the photos made her feel so bad she spent two days indoors. Now, the photos in question were apparently taken after her son cajoled her out of her room and onto the beach, where he was utilizing his French skills and wooing abilities to cheer her up.

It’s a sweet story, but we’re not going to lie: we’re a bit dismayed by the idea that someone as beautiful as Stephanie Seymour would be laid up by a set of unflattering photos.

Despite her beauty and wealth, she seems (as she mentions in this piece), quite shy — and rather awkward. Like anything taken out of context, people will make remarks that are so not true. I’m glad she’s trying to reconcile with her husband; I hope it works out. She seems very genuine and also seems to be very mother-devoted to her children. I wish her all the best.

Stephanie Seymour was my crush in high school. And 2 decades later she is still smoking! But did anyone see the pics with her son kissing her and with a boner? Weird! Peter, Koowie.com

I was surprised at how she made little eye contact with Oprah throughout the interview. Perhaps that was due to her purported shyness? Nonetheless, the photos of Ms Seymour and son leave the impression the mother/son relationship was quite intimate, especially with the son. I suppose the photos could be dismissed as just a mother and son acting like all mothers and sons do, (according to the son) but I’d be hard convinced in believing most mothers and sons are so affectionate with each other.

That being said, It’s good to know Ms Seymour and husband are trying to work things out. It’s not often you hear of a couple trying to stay together these days. Usually it’s a publicized bitter divorce, with one spouse hell bent on draining the other spouses assets, until there’s little or nothing left..
