PHOTOS: Steve Jobs’ Decades-Long Love Affair With The Mock Turtleneck
Steve Jobs announced last night that he would step down as the CEO of Apple, the company that has brought us the iPhone, the iPad, and all of the computers used to run this very website. But while Jobs’ impact on technology is undoubtable, his fashion legacy has been in the works since before he sold his first computer.
Jobs is known around the world as that guy in the black turtleneck. He’s worn one (specifically a black mock turtleneck from clothing brand St. Croix) at almost every public appearance he’s made in the past several years. But he doesn’t just reserve the garments for the annual Apple World Wide Developers Conference. He’s been wearing them since before he helped start Apple in 1976.
It’s not as though the turtleneck is a revolutionary garment, but we can’t help but admire Jobs almost lifelong commitment to it. Choosing a uniform and sticking to it might not be the height of fashion, but it does indication that Jobs’ personal style is deeply personal — and it has been for a while. We can’t fault the guy for that, now can we? Take a look at his favorite garment, below.
