WATCH: Tavi Hires Stephen Colbert, Gives Him A Boy Band Makeover
Last night, Tavi Gevinson made history as Stephen Colbert‘s youngest-ever guest on “The Colbert Report”, which, needless to say, just about made our week. The 16-year-old Rookie editor sat down with the comedian to talk high school homework (she’s reading Robert Frost), balancing schoolwork and her staff, and how the online magazine fits into the time-tested model of selling teenagers stuff they don’t need.
Then, being the expert that she is, Tavi presented a series of new looks that she felt her host should try out, including one that suspiciously resembled a picture of One Direction‘s Harry Styles holding a puppy. Here’s how it went down:
Tavi: There were some really great photos of the members of One Direction modeling puppies, so I feel like if you carried around a puppy and had boy band hair, then you would be set.
Stephen: That would be a good look? For a 48-year-old pear-shaped man? Excellent.
Well, it would certainly give him a leg up on Jon Stewart with the teenage set — at least until Robert Pattinson makes another appearance on “The Daily Show”.
Also, YOU GUYS. Colbert is (probably! we hope!) going to write for Rookie, in a column tentatively called “You’re Not Wearing That”, which, when you consider that it will be from a dad’s point of view, should be pretty self-explanatory.
