Taylor Swift Wanted To Look Like Gwyneth Paltrow At Her Prom
Taylor Swift has certainly perfected her girly-girl style. She can always be counted on to wear sparkly gowns and frilly frocks that fit her girl-next-door-gone-glam persona. But all that changes in Harper’s Bazaar December/January issue, in which there’s nary a dress to be found within the cover star’s lengthy spread.
The 22-year-old star tells the mag that she’s been wearing dresses since she was a teen. She even loves the no-pants look so much that she wanted to wear a dress similar to Gwyneth Paltrow‘s pink Ralph Lauren gown at the 1999 Oscars to her prom:
“I was 15 and going to prom for the first time, and I saw that picture of Gwyneth in the pink gown. I went all over the mall and showed it to all the store owners and said, ‘Do you have anything that looks like this?’ And no one did. So there’s that. That’s a sad story for you.”
Well, guess we know what Swift’s next song will be about. And in case you wanted more insight as to why she loves dresses:
“There’s just something so feminine about a dress. Whether it’s a summertime dress that makes me feel carefree, an evening cocktail dress that makes me feel fancy, or a vintage dress that makes me feel like a ’50s housewife — which I enjoy feeling like, for some reason — I just really like dresses. [I own] hundreds. Because I’m in a predicament where I can’t wear a dress twice or else it’s pointed out in magazines, so unfortunately I have to shop for dresses all the time.”
