PHOTOS: Terry Richardson Has Many Fashionable Friends

We all know Terry Richardson is a huge creep. Like, the creepiest creep. But Terry’s creepiness hasn’t stopped him from climbing the fashion photog ranks — and staying there. Just this fall alone he’s shot for French Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Reebok and GQ. While we don’t get his appeal as a photographer (the porny trope gets really old really fast), we definitely don’t understand how or why he has so many friends in the fashion industry.

Back in March, Jezebel quoted an anonymous industry insider as saying that “agencies ‘know full well Richardson’s predatory behavior,’ but that he ‘is tolerated because the industry folk are just sheep. There are only a handful of photographers who have the power, a handful of editors who have the power, and a handful of clients who have the power. Everyone else just follows this small group of people.’”

Gross. A peek at Terry’s Tumblr, Terry Richardson’s Diary, confirms this fact. Terry has a lot of friends in the industry. And really powerful friends at that — Carine Roitfeld and Marc Jacobs, among them. This makes us alternately sad and mad.
