WATCH: This Fashion Week Documentary Is A Bit Dramatic

We love Fashion Week as much as any other self-respecting fashion blog does (and the same goes for fashion documentaries), but the latest industry film to hit the big screen is just a touch dramatic for our taste. Or, at least the trailer has us feeling a bit skeptical.

The Tents premiered last night at NewFest (New York’s LGBT film festival), and is set to be released in September, which is appropriate given its topic is New York Fashion Week. Director James Belzer takes viewers behind the scenes of NYFW, discussing its origin (it only dates back to 1993!) and centers on its evolution at Bryant Park. (It’s unclear if there’s mention of its recent move to Lincoln Center.)

Tons of fashion luminaries were interviewed — Carolina Herrera, Suzy Menkes, and Betsey Johnson, among them — so, yeah, we’ll probably end up seeing it. But still, how overly dramatic is this opening line? “It was the shot heard from Sarajevo that started this next revolution of fashion.” Watch for yourself below. Truly spectacular or a little silly?
