10-Year-Old Model’s Mother Responds To Media Frenzy

Well, we definitely saw this coming. Less than a week after model Thylane Loubry Blondeau took the fashion blogosphere by storm and exactly one day after she was deemed “too sexy” by Good Morning America, the 10-year-old’s mother has spoken out against the critics.

In a posting on Thylane’s Facebook page shortly before closing it to the public, French TV personality turned clothing designer Veronika Loubry wrote:

hey guys im the mum of thylane something going ‘s wrong at the moment with thylane and bad personn in usa about pictures she make’s 8 months ago for vogue ,,thylane doesn’t know about the buzz and i want to protect her from the deapest of my heart ,,, she’s so young ,, so we are going to close this accompte for a while ,,i know all of you are good person who like her so i send you a big kiss,,thanks

And though we’re clearly implicit by covering here, Thylane’s mother makes a good point. What’s worse for the 10-year-old: to be photographed somewhat suggestively or to be criticized on a national morning show for it? Then again, these are the pitfalls of putting your child in the (fashion) spotlight at such a young age.

Interestingly, the independent Tumblr dedicated to Thylane has also been shut down (after changing its name from Fuck Yeah Thylane Blondeau to Thylane Blondeau Pictures, no less).

This child is stunningly beautiful, there’s no doubt about that. And as a Mom who has always been overwhelmingly proud of ANYTHING & EVERYTHING to do with my kids, I do understand her Mom’s pride. But I watched the video’s of this child. I’m sorry, but in this day & age…in these times…she is being “made-up” to look FAR too sexually appealing. What her parents have done is to make their little girl into every pedophile’s dream come true. My wish is that the parents delete ALL phot’s & video’s of this child & just let her be a CHILD!

i think the mother is right. this is not the first time a child has been photographed suggestively. look at brooke shields ffs! and what is suggestive and sexy to some is art to others. i think what is more disturbing is the perception and criticisms of the tv and media about it, bringing more attention to the “sexiness & seductiveness of a 10 yr old” and even more disturbing than that are all the beauty pagent babies… wanna talk about sexy and seductive – that’s freakishness to a whole other level. this child is beautiful and i don’t find the photos distasteful or suggestive, while i do find some of them “mature” they are not exploiting her as say any pageant mother does their child
