Tim Gunn Reveals His Sneaky Way Of Saying That He Hates An Outfit

Can you believe that Project Runway is already on its eleventh season? Well, believe it, since the latest installment premieres January 24 on Lifetime, and Tim Gunn dropped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night to talk up the show’s new, team-oriented structure, express his horror at the trend for “meggings” (yes, leggings for men), and joke about getting his very own Tim Gunn Barbie™.

Before talking up his book, Fashion Bible: The Fascinating History of Everything in Your Closet, Gunn takes Fallon through his picks for Best Dressed at the Golden Globes, including Helen Mirren, and Claire Danes (agreed on both counts).

Tim also makes a crack about the collector Barbie that he styled for Mattel, after Fallon pulls one out. “If my father weren’t already dead,” he faux-grimaces, “this would have killed him.” But Gunn likes to keep things peaceful, even if he doesn’t like what he sees in the workroom or on the red carpet:

“I try not to be mean but I borrow a line from Lucy Ricardo from an old I Love Lucy show where Lucy has to tell the truth. I paraphrase it, but the line is the following: ‘If that’s the look that you want, you sure have a good one!’”

We may have to borrow that one ourselves.
