Japanese Trio Crashes Tom Ford’s Private Show
Wherever there’s a fashion show, there’s always someone dying to crash it. The New York Post reports that a trio of Japanese women tried — and briefly succeeded — to get into Tom Ford‘s ultra secret women’s wear presentation on Sunday.
Dressed like what the Post describes as “Japanese lolitas,” the three managed to talk their way into the show by claiming that one of the trio was Mitsuko Watanabe, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Nippon. But when they got there, Watanabe had already taken her seat along with the other 100 fabulous people at the invite-only show. It didn’t take the security team at the Tom Ford store long to realize that they’d been duped, and the three were summarily kicked out.
But they didn’t stop there — an unnamed source told the Post that the girls tried to talk their way into events all over New York City.
“The girls were crashing the hottest parties all over town, saying they were the A Girls, a pop group from Japan. They wore pinafores, bustiers and platform boots, fake feather eyelashes and had ‘stick your finger in the light socket’ hairstyles.”
As onerous as something like that is — especially for people like us, who’ve been turned away from Fashion Week events we actually got invited to — it’s hard not to admire that kind of gusto and determination. It’s still super annoying, though.
