Why Won’t Tom Ford Talk About His New Movie?

Tom Ford clearly has a problem with the “instant” in instant gratification. Because even people like us, who are totally supposed to be best friends with the man, don’t have a single usable shred of information about his next movie. Other than, of course, the knowledge that there will be a next one.

And we found out today that actor Colin Firth, who starred in (and almost won an Oscar for) Ford’s last flick, A Single Man, doesn’t know anything, either! What on Earth is going on with this guy?

Firth told indieWire that while he knows Ford has something in the works, the designer-turned-director is keeping his lips sealed. Ford has dropped hints in the past, saying that it will be “very different” from his first movie and will develop it “from scratch.” That’s led some people to speculate that this time around there’s an original screenplay involved. Is Tom’s sophomore offering actually going to be his debut as an auteur? Sign us up!

Still. That’s all totally speculation. And what makes it worse is that we’re such big fans of the guy (and really, who isn’t?) that we can’t help but devote an unbelievably unhealthy portion of our day to imagining the unimaginable splendor of the next film. We really hope it lives up to the hype Ford is forcing us to build inside our heads.
