WATCH: A Sneak Peek At The Upcoming Tom Ford Documentary

It’s the documentary we’ve all been waiting for. In what may well be the press coup of the year, Oprah Winfrey managed to convince the notoriously press shy Tom Ford to let a camera crew follow him for over six months to capture what has been distilled into an hour long documentary set to air this Sunday on OWN. And for those of you who just can’t wait that long, we now have four preview clips to further whet your appetite.
Marie Claire also sat down with the film’s director, Michael Bonfiglio, to discuss the filming and the inspiration behind selecting Ford as a Visionary. Bonfiglio credits the specificity and beauty of Ford’s “taste and… creations” with inspiring his choice, but it’s Ford’s reaction to the film that is perhaps the most exciting:
I flew to Los Angeles to show [Ford a rough cut of the film], and I was very nervous. Given how particular he is about his work — and especially because he’s a filmmaker — I was anticipating leaving the screening with ten pages of notes about things he wanted changed. We screened it at a hotel, and he brought one of his colleagues to watch it with us. I sat a little bit behind him, so I could see his reactions as he watched — and about 10 minutes in, I could tell he was pleased. When it was over, he had a big smile on his face, told me he loved it, and essentially had no notes — aesthetic or otherwise.
As Ford says in the trailer, “I’ve never let anyone film me like this before.”
