PHOTOS: Who Was Best Dressed At Last Night’s Tony Awards?
The Tony Awards are known more for the ceremony’s musical numbers than its red carpet fashions, but the female attendees showed up in some seriously glamorous and wacky ensembles last night.
We’ll start with the good stuff, like Bernadette Peters’s plum Donna Karan mermaid gown. The fit was flattering and the color was regal. Cynthia Nixon‘s cowl neck number was also a winner. The fuchsia hue is fun and the sparkly slip underneath was unexpected. The Tony’s marked Sheryl Crow‘s first public appearance since she announced that she has a benign brain tumor last year, and she looked amazing. The sheer bodice was sexy, and played well against the simplicity of the skirt. Our girl crush Emma Stone skipped the red carpet, but we found her in a white stunner with a plunging neckline sitting next to boyfriend Andrew Garfield. Hey girl.
And then there was the not-good stuff. Jessica Chastain‘s Marios Schwab frock looked all sorts of bad. The boning in the bodice, the sheerness of the dress, and the nude hue just didn’t work. Amanda Seyfried‘s colorblocked Givenchy ensemble was certainly unexpected, but also a little awkward. Or maybe it was just her pose. Hugh Jackman‘s wife Deborra-Lee Furness didn’t check the weather report last night and opted for a black dress with a furry neckline. Can we call it a scarf-dress? Also: she wore flatforms.
