Transgender Women Will Be Allowed To Enter The Miss Universe Pageant Next Year

Pageant officials have announced that transgender contestants will be allowed to participate in the Miss Universe competition beginning next year.

Last month, Jenna Talackova was disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada pageant after it was revealed that she was a transgender woman. The Miss Universe Organization and owner Donald Trump received plenty of media backlash and ultimately allowed Talackova to participate in the pageant.

Now, officials have agreed to open the competition to all transgender women. Trump and pageant co-owner NBC have yet to sign off on the new policy, but it seems like things are already finalized. President of the Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart said the decision came as a result of working with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation advocacy group:

“We want to give credit where credit is due, and the decision to include transgender women in our beauty competitions is a result of our ongoing discussions with GLAAD…We have a long history of supporting equality for all women, and this was something we took very seriously.”

GLAAD responded with an equally complimentary statement:

“At a time when transgender people are still routinely denied equal opportunities in housing, employment and medical care, today’s decision is in line with the growing levels of public support for transgender people across the country.”

So everybody’s happy! Now, let’s talk about those cheesy pageant gowns.

I’m all for equal rights and fair treatment for all but this one bites.  It’s a beauty contest for natural born women who like themselves and don’t mind being paraded in all their glory for anyone to see.  The only problem I have with this candidate is that she is a transgender, meaning she got the chance to choose how she wanted to look, her nose, eyes, teeth, boos, hair, etc.  Natural born’s are stuck with what they have BUT, if these natural born contestants go under the knife to make major, public accepted appearances, then Jenna is in the right pageant and therefore, should continue…may the best “fake” woman win. Where is this held?  Vegas?  Hummmmm

Not fair.  This “dude” had work done.  Obviously, lots of it.   The “real” ladies work hard to look the way they do to compete in these pageants without surgeries.  This guy comes prancing in like “oh, you have to let me compete”.   The Donald has to say NO!  Same sex marriages, transgenders competing in the Miss Universe pageant.  Geez!  I gotta say though, this has to be the best make over I’ve ever seen.  The pageant people should have some kind of pageant where the transgenders can compete without having to disturb the rules already in place for pageants.

    This is stupid!

BUT, if the twisted, Romanesque culture we have created accepts and supports such with the purchase of tickets and advertising sales, well, “you get what you pay for?”

Furthermore, there is no Constitutional right to be in a beauty contest.  However, there are prohibitions against discrimination based on arbitrary, “Immutable differences,” such as sex and race, which would indeed constitute discrimination?  But, the contest at least at one time was for WOMEN… which begs the question: Define Women/Woman?

I guess if this sort of thing really bothers us, then don’t go to the show, don’t watch it on TV, or purchase the advertised products.  Then maybe, just maybe, after we are all called transgender-phobes, religious nuts, or haters, etc., common sense will prevail and we can answer, honestly, “define women/woman?”

    It’s a strange new-world out there?

I have  a solution: Trump should hold a Transgender  beauty pageant. First, he should see how many sponsors would be willing to chip in . Next, he should offer it to Transgenders from around the world. Finally, when no major TV sponsors pitch in, they can offer it to the Porn channel. Hear This: The only reason Trump is allowing this person in- is to ramp up the viewership. Yes, people will tune in to see the first Transgender participant, and then no more. Did not say they had to admit applicants into the show- they must go through the selection process like everyone else. My guess is that none will ever make it in again. Especially after they tick the box neither female or male, but transgender.
