Do You Accept Tyler Shields’ Apology For His Heather Morris Pictures?

Fashion photographer Tyler Shields has apologized for any distress he may have caused by releasing photos of Glee star Heather Morris sporting one hell of a shiner this week. And to make up for it, Shields has committed to raising money to help fight domestic abuse.

Shields told TMZ that it was not his intention to glamorize violence against women — and to prove it he’s going to sell the photo and donate the proceeds to a “top domestic abuse charity.” The bidding for the photo, part of a series that depict Morris as a 1950s housewife in an abuse relationship, will start around $100,000. And Shields says every cent of that money will go to fight back against the forces that put so many women in such an unfortunate situation.

But Shields isn’t the only person who’s been accused of using domestic abuse as a stylistic motif. Last week we reported on a Canadian salon called Fluid that used an image of a battered woman to advertise its beauty services. But the people at Fluid were much less apologetic.

In a very unscientific poll, almost 70 percent Styleite readers (hey, that’s you guys!) said that these images are offensive. So now we have to ask, does Shields’ apology make up for it?

Take a look at the rest of the photos here and tell us what you think.

Stop it! the photos are NOT wrong or offensive and any of your readers that think so need to step back and re-think… the only thing bad about the photos are the photos themselves (I don’t think the quality of the photos is good). Other then that no one knows how she got the black eye (in a made up photo senario). Just because a woman has a black eye everyone asumes that a man did it. The only reason anybody cares is because of peoples obsession with celebrities (it’s a Glee star – who cares?). I think he shouldn’t have to apologize at all and use the 100K for some photography classes.
