Being Tyra’s Neighbor Is Less Fun Than You Think
You know who doesn’t have a normal life? Tyra Banks. The supermodel, television personality and Harvard Business School student couldn’t live in just one luxury condo in New York City, so she paid over $10 million to join four of them together. But the renovations on her upscale pad have taken months longer than expected, and her neighbors say they’re tired of waiting around for all the construction noise to stop.
In fact, Banks’ neighbors at Riverhouse, the luxury condo building where she took over the 22nd and 23rd floors last year, have been complaining about the noise since Banks’ renovations started. Residents told Page Six that they’re plagued by “ear-rattling drilling starting as early as 9 a.m.” even though Banks promised the noise would stop by last October.
“It’s like being on the street where you hear them drilling concrete, but indoors,” said one exasperated tenant who heard more drilling this week despite word that work was mercifully wrapping up.
But with construction winding down (six months after the deadline), new complaints have surfaced over the smell of paint seeping from Banks’ place into other apartments in the building.
Luckily for Banks’ neighbors, the model was spotted bringing a few boxes into her space yesterday — and with good reason. Some of her neighbors got so exasperated that they tried to get her to pay them damages for the anguish her general contractor has caused them lo these many months.
Numerous neighbors, meantime, have requested compensation of up to $100,000 for the inconvenience over the past year — but without success, sources said.
Ouch. Here’s hoping they don’t get mad the first time she co-hosts a rager with Andre Leon Talley.
