Model Sues Vampire Weekend Over 27-Year-Old Photo

Beware a model scorned. Vampire Weekend is currently being sued for more than $2 million by the model featured on the cover of their 2010 album, Contra. Kirsten Kennis claims her signature was forged on the release form — and that’s not all. Guess when the photo was taken?
1983.
Kennis says that she took the photo 27-years-ago, and actually had no clue it was going to be used as Vampire Weekend’s album cover.
In a lawsuit, filed yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court, Kennis claims she thinks it all has to do with a “photographic release” that the band obtained from a photographer named Tod Brody.
Problem is, Kennis claims the signature on the release is a forgery. Kennis blames the band for not verifying the legitimacy of the release — and is suing VW and the photog for more than $2 mil.
We’re so used to the fake ’80s look that’s taken over sidewalks, high schools, and catwalks that it’s mind-blowing to think Vampire Weekend used a photo that was actually taken in everyone’s favorite decade. How very authentic!
