PHOTOS: All Of The Red Carpet Looks From The Venice Film Festival So Far
by Hilary George-Parkin | 10:55 am, August 30th, 2012
As befits the occasion, Italian labels like Valentino , Dolce & Gabbana , and Alberta Ferretti took center stage during the first day of the 69th Venice International Film Festival . But, of course, some stars channeled la dolce vita better than others.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist star Kate Hudson was the obvious winner on the festival’s Opening Ceremony red carpet. Her Atelier Versace gown fit her like a glove, and the champagne beading was glamorous without being over-the-top flashy. Though of course she did have some tough competition in Laetitia Casta , who pulled off a sheer lace Dolce look as only a former supermodel could. On the more demure side were Naomi Watts in Gatsby -esque Marchesa , and breakout style star Kasia Smutniak in a long-sleeved Ferretti column.
Scenic views, showstopping gowns, and heretofore unknown European “celebs” that inevitably show up to red carpet events in outrageous attire — this is starting to feel like Cannes all over again!
But the question is: will Venice also get its very own wardrobe malfunction ?
