Once Again, Vera Wang Reinvents The Evening Gown
Vera Wang is known for her year-round uniform of black leggings and white t-shirt, but when she does break from the norm and go black tie, she does it so, so well. What else do you expect from someone who designs confections like these for a living?
At last night’s Delete Blood Cancer Gala, Wang was honored alongside Katy Perry, Leighton Meester, and OPI exec Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, and despite the crowd of models clad in suits and head-to-toe Saint Laurent, the designer stuck out as the best dressed of the bunch.
Her black satin gown was draped at the hip and flared slightly at the hem, but what really got us interested was the navel-grazing neckline paired with a matching bandeau. Yes, a dress like this isn’t for everyone, but the athletic designer has the figure and attitude to carry it off perfectly. Perry, meanwhile, struck a pose in one of Wang’s more classic designs: a strapless azure mermaid gown from her spring collection.
Vera, if you’re still in need of another plus-one to the Met Gala (and want to lend us a repeat), consider our schedules cleared!
