PHOTOS: Versace Resort Melds Pastels, Crop-Tops, The ’60s, And Sailor Stripes
Is it just us, or was Donatella Versace able to fuse all of our favorite trends into one 32-piece resort collection? The scorching designs boast notes of the ’60s with pastels and micro-mini silhouettes, while calling out to the today’s modern girl with cut-outs, crop tops, and high slits. In other words, there’s just as much skin you’d expect to see from a Versace collection.
The season’s inspiration was Maritime, which for us, wasn’t entirely obvious until we got a closer look at the button detail. Sailor pants, anyone? Sadly, beyond one top, nautical stripes were completely absent from the designs.
While there are plenty of the Italian fashion house’s signature details, the pieces definitely have some flirty spring fever with seasonal print staples such as floral and gingham, with some bright Macaron hues — turquoise, tangerine, bubblegum pink, and daffodil yellow — to amplify the looks.
For daywear there’s the matchy-matchy pant and skirt suits, wide-leg trousers, high-waisted pencil skirts, and shift coats. When the sun goes down you can slip into the the bra tops, sheer-sleeved body-con dresses, and maxi skirts with slits up to there. There’s also the black sheep of the collection, the sparkling tuxedo jacket that we’d gladly take under our wing.
