Victoria’s Secret Slams Kate Upton: ‘We Would Never Use Her’

It turns out not everyone is so enamored with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Kate Upton. In a profile published by the New York Times, the so-called “creative force” behind the casting of the Victoria’s Secret shows slammed the model and her “too obvious” look. It gets worse.

Sophia Neophitou is the editor in chief and founder of UK fashion magazine 10, the former creative director of Harper’s Bazaar UK, and a consultant for Antonio Berardi, Roland Mouret, and Elie Saab. In 2011, she was put in charge of casting the Victoria’s Secret runway show. Neophitou spoke to the Times about Upton’s rise to fame, telling the paper that she found the 19-year-old midwesterner average and compared her to a “footballer’s wife”.

“We would never use” Ms. Upton for a Victoria’s Secret show, Ms. Neophitou said by telephone last week from London. And, while Ms. Upton has, in fact, modeled on occasion for the company’s catalog, her look, said Ms. Neophitou, is “too obvious” to be featured in what has become the most widely viewed runway show in the world.

“She’s like a Page 3 girl,” Ms. Neophitou said, referring to the scantily clad voluptuous women featured in The Sun, a London tabloid. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Ouch. One would assume there is a fairly large overlap in customers between Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue subscribers and Victoria’s Secret fashion show fans, but what do we know? We don’t even have a face worth buying.

This rude woman is screaming out her own insecurity! Can anyone say Me-ow! I have seen dozens of these “obvious” types in VS magazines. It is their ideal image. Clearly this woman only acted as a casting consultant briefly for VS and she has now created her own personal requirements for their models. Congratulations to this beautiful model for her success and for landing the coveted FC of SI. This ugly woman with the green face and jealous words can not hold a candle to this girl. I’d bet millions she is one ugly pug! Worth the google! Definitely no plastic surgery (can anyone say somebody could use a little Rhinoplasty) and really, a fashionista that has never seen the inside of a hair salon – gray hair is really not that attractive unless you’re 70.)

Rest assured that’s what most guys like. If I’d seen any of the VS models at the frat parties I went to I would have been mostly unimpressed. Kate Upton has a very all-American girl look to her, like the kind of girl that would do a keg stand in a swim suit and then dance around like a dirty tramp.

This Victoria’s Secret woman is right. The VS-models have class, beauty and a mysterious sexiness. Kate Upton is really slutty. That is not what VS stands for.
