Vogue China’s September Cover Features All Asian Models… So What?

Du Juan, Sui He, Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Ming Xi, and Shu Pei pose in a veritable floral rainbow for the Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin lensed cover of the September issue of Vogue China. And if you think about it, the fact that September issue cover features an all star cast of Asian models should be about as notable as American Vogue featuring a rich, white actress. But when you factor in that only four of its last 12 covers have featured Asian models at all, well, then it’s a whole new story.

We rounded up a year’s worth of covers below. Take a look and tell us how you think it fares. We think the most notable aspect of the cover might be the fact that they’re all wearing Gucci. Talk about a coup.

    An Asian version of any magazine should stick to it, also Indian, French, Russian and so on. They should focus on local beauty with world-wide fashion. :)

    I definitely agree, but I wonder how much this is influenced by the fact that some of Vogue’s subsidiaries can’t afford to shoot unique covers every month
