PHOTOS: Stefano Tonchi Likes Couples and Kisses

Stefano Tonchi hasn’t held the reins of power at W Magazine for that long, but already you can already see a lot of his sensibility and style in the magazine. Normally we’d say that’s a good thing, but we’re starting to get a little bored with his covers.

Fashion Copious got its hands on W‘s October cover, which features Ryan Gosling making due preparation to kiss Michelle Williams on the cheek. It’s sweet and sentimental and lovely and we like it. But we’ve seen it before. The September issue’s cover is a trifold with eight of Hollywood’s rising stars on it, but when it’s folded all you can see is actresses Kat Dennings and Jessica Chastain looking like they’re about to go at it. In August — Tonchi’s first month actually running things at the magazine — we saw Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall embracing.

And while we understand that branding is important, you can’t build a magazine on staged intimate moments. We’re hoping for something a little more exciting in November.
