Waris Ahluwalia Spent Valentine’s Day ‘Searching For A Boo’

For the fashion set, Valentine’s was just another day in this season’s seemingly endless New York Fashion Week. As such, last night we swung by the Park Avenue Armory to take in Sølve Sundsbø‘s video installation “The Ever Changing Face of Beauty” at a party hosted by W Magazine.

Two imposing 50-foot screens flanked the room and flashed images of beautiful people and things (Lara Stone included), a study in the evolving nature of beauty. We spotted Waris Ahluwalia making the rounds, and were able to steal a few minutes with fashion’s social butterfly.

We love your Boo by House of Waris collection. Do you have a Valentine?

No, I’m seeing my friends this evening. All my work is about searching for a boo! That’s what it is — I’m searching for my boo, that’s it.

What’s been the highlight of Fashion Week for you?

Always seeing friends’ show. Bibhu [Mohapatra's] first show, Yigal’s show was incredible, Maria Cornejo prints are amazing always — think like, badass. So is seeing everyone’s work! It was Bibhu’s first runway show, so it was nice to see his clothes move, rather than just a presentation. They’re stunning.

Since we’re at a party hosted by W, what do you read?

Google! I use Google, my homepage is Google. I get in trouble from my friends because they’re like, “You don’t look at my blog!” I’m like, “I don’t look at anybody’s blog! I look at Google!” I look at weather, I look at movie listings, I look at occasional news. But weather seems to take up a lot of my internet time. I just always like to know what it is, what I’m walking into — what to expect when I step outside. Google is my site.

How are you going to unwind from the week?

Play tennis this weekend, that’s how I’ll unwind.

And then what’s next?

A new collection! Probably late spring or something I’ll show.
