WATCH: Jennifer Lawrence Hosts SNL Dressed Up As A Dog
Our girl Jennifer Lawrence is having quite the week. On Sunday she won a Golden Globe for her role in the film Silver Linings Playbook, and last night she hosted Saturday Night Live, portraying characters from a fairly staggering number of different scenarios: the fifties, the Civil War, and even Middle Earth.
Lawrence also briefly reprised the role of Katniss Everdeen during a sketch of a hypothetical Hunger Games press conference, in which cast member Bobby Moynihan can’t seem to focus on much besides his, well, hunger. And we liked her as the elf queen Galadriel in a riff on Peter Jackson‘s stretching of The Hobbit into three films; Lawrence and her Tolkien cohorts mock star in a film about splitting a check at a group dinner. She brought a creepy solemnity, reminiscent of Winter’s Bone, to her characterization of a less-than-chipper 1950′s diner waitress, and just the right amount of frustration to a portrayal of “Madeline,” a Civil War gal whose boyfriend’s epistles are mostly comprised of requests for naked pictures.
But the real good, clean fun came from a sketch entitled “Top Dog Chef” in which Lawrence was decked out as what we presume is a Lhasa Apso, competing against furry contestants for culinary approval from the likes of Jason Sudeikis as “Tom Collie-chio” and Nasim Pedrad as “Padma Leash Me.” It was pun-riddled, ridiculous, and right on point — and even with a dog-stache, J-Law still manages to look pretty darn good.
