WATCH: We’re Livestreaming Whitney Houston’s Memorial Service

A memorial for the late singer Whitney Houston will be held today starting at noon — but if you’re not one of the family members or friends invited to attend the service, you can watch a live stream of it right here on Styleite.

Houston’s family has been careful to avoid calling the service a funeral — rather, Pastor Marvin Winans, who will deliver the singer’s eulogy, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that they’re calling it a “home going service.” It’s fitting, then, that the proceedings will take place in Houston’s home town among family and friends she’s known for decades.

The Location

Houston will be remembered at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. The red brick building is where she sang with her mother Cissy Houston when she was a child, and the place she returned to for Sunday services even after she became a star.

The Guests

Some 1,500 people will fill the church, and award-winning entertainment world heavyweights like singer Dionne Warwick (Houston’s cousin), actor Kevin Costner, filmmaker Tyler Perry and music executive Clive Davis will all deliver remarks about Houston’s life. CNN reports that Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly and Alicia Keys are expected to perform during the service.

Only invited guests will be allowed inside the church, however. The church has been blocked off by a two-block perimeter in some areas and a four-block perimeter in others, so public mourners won’t get closer than two blocks away.

The Service

The proceedings are scheduled to start at noon and will last about three hours, but it’s anticipated that things may start a little late because of the number of people expected to attend the service.
