Weekend Reading: The Not Cot Empire, Cry Wolf, And More!
Editor’s Note: There are millions of sites in the blogosphere and let’s face it, you don’t have time to read them all. Lucky for you (and us!), we’ve found someone who does, and she’s going to be sharing a few with you each week. Think of them as blogs to know, Twitter users to follow, online stores to shop at — and so much more! If you’re looking to expand your blogroll or source from the best content on the web, Hillary Frazier is your girl! And if you’ve got the inside scoop on a site worth knowing, send her an email!
This site is one to get lost in. Dubbed the “NotEmpire,” they’ve got sub-sites for fashion, drinks, random projects, contests, and two sites with architecture, technology, and other aesthetically-pleasing posts pulled from different blogs or submitted by users, all organized into a database that would take a lifetime to go through. I love how the posts are organized, each with a photo and little blurb about what will be in the post, and once you click inside it links you to the original source. Basically, this site is really pretty and they’ve got a lot of great products from blogs I’ve never heard of (but will obviously be trolling through), and you should check it out if you’re one of those people that loves Stumble Upon and We Heart It.
I’ve got to thank reader Felix for this submission. (Don’t forget, you can email me your favorite blogs and I’ll check them all out!) Look Book LA is basically the bible to everything fashion- and nightlife-related in Los Angeles. If you want to know where to go, see event coverage, check out the best designers and find out where anything and everything is in the city of angels, Look Book LA is your site. I know I’ll be using it as my trusty internet handbook next time I head out to the west coast.
Cry Wolf is of my favorite shops in NYC. It’s the only place where I can get all of my favorite designers like Surface to Air, Bijules, Chronicles of Never, Acne, Cheap Monday and Wrath Arcane all in one place. But better yet, for those of us who don’t live in the New York area, their online store is full of great products too — especially jewelry, which I will be layering on for summer to compensate for lack of clothing layers.
