Kate Middleton Will Wear Local Garb On The Diamond Jubilee Tour
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be visiting Singapore, Malaysia, the Soloman Islands, and Marau this month on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II for her Diamond Jubilee tour, celebrating her 60 years (!) on the throne. We have their full itinerary, including some intelligence on what Kate will be wearing. Read on!
The royal couple will be gone for eight days, and they have a packed schedule:
- September 11-12: Will and Kate arrive in Singapore. On their first day, they will each get an orchid named in their honor at a ceremony in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The next day they will spend time in sports and art classes at Rainbow Centre, a facility for people with special needs.
- September 13-15: The couple goes to Malaysia. On the 13th, Kate will make a speech at Kuala Lumpur’s Hospis Malaysia, a hospice center. That night, Will and Kate will have dinner with Tuanku Abdul Halim, the king of Malaysia. On the 15th, the royals will tour Danum Valley, the world’s largest remaining rainforest, where they will climb all the way up to the canopy.
- September 16-17: The Duke and Duchess jump over to the Solomon Islands, where they will attend a local church service and a state dinner. The two will split for a few hours on the morning of the 17th; Will is going to head to a youth conference to give a speech and play soccer with kids while Kate goes to a reception for local women’s groups. That afternoon, they will meet back up to fly to Marau and make appearances at two separate welcome ceremonies.
- September 18: On the final day of their trip, Will and Kate will watch local sporting matches and visit several schools. The next day they return to London — on a commercial flight!
As for the Duchess’ wardrobe, the couple’s private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton told Us Weekly that both she and her husband will be in traditional dress at some of the state dinners they are attending. Kate will not have a stylist with her, and a source tells Us that we shouldn’t expect any iconic statement jewelry like the maple leaf brooch she wore in Canada (sigh). Also, she may make an appearance in a tiara. We’re crossing our fingers for photos!
