PHOTOS: Multicolored Sheep Invade London For Wool Week
When he’s not doing whatever it is that the world’s royalty does all day, Prince Charles is worrying about wool. The price of the fabric has dropped pretty steadily over the past decade, and in order to raise awareness of that problem, His Royal Highness helped organize London’s first Wool Week.
While it’s not as glamorous as Fashion Week — then again, Fashion Week isn’t glamorous at all — it’s still as highly produced. Organizers turned London’s famed Saville Row into a country farm yesterday, where a flock of sheep paraded in front of tony men’s shops like Hardy Amies and Huntsman. At Selfridges, a group of 15 of sheep was dyed the store’s signature, attention-getting yellow.
More than 80 high-end retailers are participating in the week by offering knitting classes and discounts on wool products, WWD reports. And with creatures so cute (and the promise of sweaters so warm) who could say no?
