Yoko Ono Sued For Allegedly Stealing Brooklyn Designer’s Work
Thirty-six-year-old Haleh Nematzadeh is claiming that Ono’s naughty line for OC, which features tops with colorblocked nipples and bottoms with handsy-hand prints inspired by late husband John Lennon‘s “sexy bod”, is actually derived from her own spring collection called “Gonna Walk The Night”. According to the New York Post, Nematzadeh met with Opening Ceremony’s photographers in July last year in hopes of getting her collection into the store’s catalog. She claims that Ono’s design team saw her designs and reworked them into a mens’ collection for Ono’s Opening Ceremony line. The photo above features a piece from Nematzadeh on the left and Ono on the right.
Nematzadeh filed an intellectual property suit on Friday, and told the Post:
“They took everything with no shame. They stole from me blatantly. She’s trying to put fetish in context, but since when does fetish and John Lennon go together? When you think of the Beatles, you think of doves and trees, not that.”
