Pierre Bergé Applauds Changes At YSL, Hates Stefano Pilati

Not everyone is upset about the changes going down at Yves Saint Laurent Pierre Bergé is all about it.

Saint Laurent’s partner told WWD he’s excited for Hedi Slimane‘s plan to return the house to its roots, which includes a name change to Saint Laurent Paris. And in case you were wondering, he apparently hated Stefano Pilati:

“I’m very happy. Anything that makes the house more Saint Laurent is welcome. I am happy that Stefano Pilati is gone, just as I was happy when Tom Ford left.”

Burn, dude. He also approves of Slimane moving YSL’s creative studios from Paris to Los Angeles: “The creative studio is in a designer’s head, it resides within the person. Hedi lives in Los Angeles. He should be left to do fashion in a city he likes.”

Ok, so then I retract yesterday’s post. If it’s ok with Pierre it’s ok with me. Still sad, but ok.

I don’t agree with the name change.  If, i my opinion Yves Saint Laurent would have wanted to at the time that he founded the house, he could have named it Saint Laurent Paris, yet he chose to place his full name (i.e. Yves Saint Laurent) on the house.  It would be interesting to see what the man himself would have thought of the change, nothing against Mr. Berge’ but Yves Saint Laurent he was not
