Check Out The Feisty Letter Zooey Deschanel Wrote To Vogue

This isn’t particularly surprising, but it turns out that teenage Zooey Deschanel was a bit of a spitfire. A fan recently unearthed a letter the then 17-year-old actress wrote to Vogue magazine, in which Deschanel calls the magazine out for highlighting a singular “ideal” of beauty and advocates for more diversity and encouragement — and which Vogue published.
Yesterday, Deschanel tweeted:
wrote this letter to vogue when I was 17 & someone found it! proud of my feminist teen self. RT @wellsbones: http://tumblr.com/xvg2hpk770
Which was followed pretty quickly by:
PS: the vogue letter was published in the magazine! no hard feelings @voguemagazine,love your mag! I was a feisty 17.
