LISTEN: ‘Uncle ACE’ by Blood Orange (Kindness Remix ft. Robert Owens)

"Did you have other interests as a teenager?"

There are so many great things going on here, so let’s break it down:

1. Last year, Blood Orange released his album Cupid Deluxe, the excellent follow up to 2011′s Coastal Grooves.
2. His friend and collaborator Kindness, AKA British disco-pop babe Adam Bainbridge, then remixed “Uncle ACE,” one of that album’s best tracks.
3. That remix also featured vocals from Chicago house legend and Fingers, Inc. alum Robert Owens.
4. Owens was a friend and collaborator of original Chicago house legend Frankie Knuckles, who passed away just last week (this is touching rather than great.)
5. Bainbridge also shot a hypnotizing video in Dev’s sleepy England hometown. The video asks you (or him?) life affirming questions like “At which age did you first hear music?”
6. They just dropped that on YouTube.

Take a swinging trip down memory lane (or Dev’s memory lane anyway) below.
