Time and time again we have proven ourselves to be unworthy and fallible, nothing more than mistakes of creation, and yet nightbird and oracle Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Nicks continues to love us and bestow upon us gifts that we do not fully deserve nor are we equipped to receive. Earlier today, after penning a song with the aurora borealis and whispering an incantation over her reflecting pool in order to ensure that Those Who Spread Sorrow will sleep another day, Nicks unveiled “Lady”, a stunning piano ballad from her upcoming solo record 24 Karat Gold &madash; Songs From The Vault.
Like all of the songs on 24 Karat Gold, “Lady” is a song that Nicks rediscovered while searching through YouTube bootlegs and decided to rework with co-producers Dave Stewart and Waddy Wachtel. “Most of these songs were written between 1969 and 1987,” the Elusive Chanteuse wrote in a statement. “One was written in 1994 and one in 1995. I included them because they seemed to belong to this special group. Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story… They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken-hearted and the survivors.”
