18 Of The Most Controversial Fashion Magazine Covers EVER

Rolling Stone magazine is rolling in the controversy this week, for giving Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the rock star treatment. And while no fashion magazine we’re aware of has ever put a terrorist on the cover, it’s not like the industry is immune to controversy. Whether it’s underage models, racial sterotyping, an abundance of skin, a shortage of body fat or any combination of these things, it seems every new turn gives us reason to peek a little closer for a bad weave or a horrifically amputated limb.

In the last few months alone we’ve seen Jarrod Scott’s full-frontal, Michelle Williams’ red face and Miley Cyrus’ sideboob debut, and we’ve let them slide from memory each time something new grabs our attention.

But some things are too scandalous to leave buried 12-deep in a stack of old glossies. Click through the gallery below for our round-up of fashion’s most controversial covers, and remind yourself to look a little closer as the September issues hit stands.
