In a job where you’re constantly surrounded by people who are so pretty they get paid for it, it’s actually quite comforting to know how hard some models work to maintain their professional good looks. That list, apparently, includes
new Head Angel Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima.
At a luncheon with a group of bloggers apparently more choice than we here at Styleite, Lima said that in the six weeks before each Victoria’s Secret Fashion show she ramps up her (already prohibitive) diet and exercise schedule. By which we mean she swears off carbs and meets with her trainer for two hours a day, six days a week.
“I’m doing a combination of different protein shakes — it’s called Metagenics. And also, I only can eat green vegetables, everything grilled or steamed, or four ounces of any type of protein … And I don’t lift weights, I don’t like machines — everything I do is with my body weight … Every day’s a challenge, every day you’re stepping out and learning something new. So it’s wonderful — I like it a lot. It’s very intense, but I like it.”
It certainly sounds intense — But we’re hoping she’ll take the time to eat a french fry or something after she struts down the runway in that sparkly, diamond encrusted bra on Nov. 30. Because if anyone deserves complex carbohydrates and a day of vegging on the couch, it’s her.
