Aerin Lauder, granddaughter of cosmetics legend Estée Lauder and former creative director of her eponymous brand, wants to be the next Tory Burch. Her transition from beauty queen to fashion maven is well underway, and now we have the first image from her footwear line.
Lauder launched her own lifestyle company, Aerin, last year, and plans on creating a brand around it that will include everything from housewares to jewelry to clothing to sunglasses. The product lines will be rolled out over time, starting with a cosmetics collection that will launch this fall. Lauder’s shoe line, which will include 15 pairs of flats, wedges, and sandals, is set to launch for spring 2013, and will retail for between $179 – $400. Lauder told WWD of the line:
“This is very feminine, and there is something very easy about it. It’s very much about the woman who is juggling many different things. There are not as many of those high, high, high unwearable shoes.”
The collection will be licensed by Jimlar Corp., which also has deals with Calvin Klein and Coach. Nordstrom has already gotten in on it, and Lauder’s line is being shopped to other high-end department stores like Saks and Neiman Marcus. The line will also be sold online at Aerin’s own e-commerce site, which launches this November.
