In case you missed the memo, the ’90s are back. And some brands, like Doc Martens, are making some big moves in the hopes of capitalizing on that fact. Take, for example, their new ad campaign which features Agyness Deyn speaking soulfully into the camera about her very first breakup.
Fellow model Ash Stymet plays her (fake) boyfriend. Are we alone in wishing that Doc Martens had somehow convinced her real first ex-boyfriend to partake? How early ’90s gritty would that have been!
But overall it’s a good, pretty ad and a smart campaign, because for some of us — depending on your age, of course — the very idea of Doc Martens is nostalgic. Now we understand why so many people were upset when the ’80s came back around.
