We think the idea Lifetime had when it hired Alexa Chung to be the host of its new fashion reality show 24 Hour Catwalk was that she was cool enough to automatically make the show cool, too. And while we agree that Chung is quite, quite awesome, we don’t think anyone could have made this concept a better show.
24 Hour Catwalk is just what it sounds like — contestants have 24 hours to create an entire runway collection, which is then presented in front of an audience and later judged by Chung, designer Cynthia Rowley, fashion writer Derek Blasberg and publicist extraordinaire James Laforce. Along the way, there’s tons of drama and sewing and fashion related hijinks, which is what you’d expect from a fashion reality show on Lifetime.
And that’s the issue — Chung is nothing if not unpredictably cool, but this show is easier to predict than what time your mail gets delivered every day. Take a look at the preview and it won’t take long for you to see what we mean.
