Coroner: McQueen Had Cocaine, Sleeping Pills In His System

A London coroner has closed the investigation into Alexander McQueen’s death and ruled the cause suicide.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Paul Knapman paraphrased McQueen’s suicide note and said, “It was obvious what he intended.” According to WWD:

“[Knapman] said the letter was written on the back of the book, “The Descent of Man,” and found in McQueen’s London flat. The letter ended with: ‘Please look after my dogs. Sorry, I love you. Lee.’

McQueen’s letter also included instructions about where to bury him.”

In addition to a “significant level of cocaine,” Knapman also found sleeping pills and tranquilizers in the blood samples taken after the designers death and in his medical opinion, McQueen “killed himself while the balance of his mind was disturbed.”
