After serving four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, Amanda Knox is free. And like other American twenty-somethings, she dressed up for Halloween. Unlike other American twenty-somethings, her costume choice is causing a bit of controversy.
Knox was photographed walking down a Seattle in an all black, cat-burglar-esque ensemble featuring black boots, a black hat, and a drawn on moustache — a costume which would have been innocuous if not for the unfortunate timing and nature of Kercher’s death, the fourth anniversary of which is today, November 1.
In response to the photos, Kercher’s father John said: “I think it’s very insensitive of Amanda Knox, especially considering it is the fourth anniversary of Meredith’s death. The anniversary is obviously a very difficult time for our family and images like this don’t help.”
