CONFIRMED: Andre Leon Talley Is Leaving America’s Next Top Model

Oh woe of woes — Vogue contributing editor Andre Leon Talley has confirmed that he will be leaving Tyra Banks‘ reality program America’s Next Top Model after it’s 17th season’s finale airs.

Yesterday a rumor circulated that Talley, who’s been a judge and mentor on the show for four seasons, would be replaced by public relations powerhouse Kelly Cutrone, who previously doled out heavy servings of tough love on The Hills and The City. We were slightly outraged that someone would even suggest it — Talley brought some major fashion industry credibility to the show. Still, better to bow out on top than to get sucked into one of Tyra’s inevitable and embarrassing bouts of karaoke. Or something. Talley told Page Six:

“It’s all good in the neighborhood … I had a fabulous time. It was a mutual agreement. There is no unhappiness, at all.”

Maybe not for him, but we’ll be very sad to see him go. Cutrone’s camp has not commented on her potential stint with the show, but we really can’t think of anyone else who would bring even a fraction of Talley’s sage wisdom and no-nonsense approach to fashion to the show. The king is dead, long live the king, et cetera.
