There’s nothing we love more than awesome custom clothing (the Angry Birds gown, anyone?) so we were surprised and delighted this morning when Ann Curry commemorated The Today Show‘s 60th anniversary by wearing a custom-made dress inspired by its logo.
Curry’s dress, a elbow length-sleeved cream sheath made especially for today’s broadcast by New York-based designer Lisa Perry, was accented by the show’s sunrise rainbow graphic. We love the clever way Perry integrated the logo into the dress — she turned it into a full circle and placed it on the left side of the dress, adding a pocket right at the center of the circle.
The dress is the perfect balance of smart and subtle. It’s not too far gone that it’s over anyone’s head, and it’s not so avant garde that no one wouldn’t notice the design was there. But clearly, Curry is a woman who thinks about what you can say with fashion and wants to tell a story with her clothing. And because of that, she might just be the best-dressed woman on the morning news.
Take a look at the dress below:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
