Our first thought when we saw Anna Wintour‘s ensemble for Wednesday night’s State Dinner: “We love Chanel, but isn’t she a bit underdressed?” The editor in chief of Vogue looked good, there’s no doubt there, but in a sea of designer floor-length gowns, the daytime dress and jacket combo looked, well, a little out of place. And on top of that, it turns out she wore the same outfit on a red carpet just over a month ago.
Wintour wore the same Chanel ensemble to the CFDA Awards on December 15th. Though she accessorized slightly differently both nights (see the photos below), the overall look is still the same.
No offense to Chanel, but the State Dinner seems like the type of event where one dresses according to the occasion. Moreover, while we love the fact that Ms. Wintour isn’t afraid to re-wear some of her favorite looks, a blacktie event at the White House deserves a new look, no?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
